Best Brokers for Intraday Trading
Intraday traders pay brokerage on every order, so the per-order cap and ancillary fees matter most. Here's how brokers compare.

How we assessed brokers for intraday trading
No payment influenced this list. For intraday we focused on the per-order cost that stacks up over hundreds of trades, plus execution speed, margin and the tools a day trader leans on.
- Per-order cost — the flat fee or cap that applies to each intraday trade.
- Execution and uptime — order speed, platform stability and outage record.
- Margin and leverage — margin offered within SEBI's peak-margin rules.
- Trader tooling — advanced charts, hotkeys, baskets and API access.
Intraday costs are dominated by the per-order fee and ancillary charges, not delivery brokerage. Model your typical day with the brokerage calculator.
Worked example: break-even on a ₹1 lakh intraday trade
For one intraday round trip of ₹1,00,000 buy and ₹1,00,000 sell on NSE, total cost includes brokerage, STT (0.025% on the sell side), exchange charges, SEBI fee, stamp duty (0.003% on buy) and 18% GST:
| Broker | Brokerage (both legs) | Total cost | Price move needed to break even |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kotak Securities | ₹20.00 | ₹59.08 | 0.059% |
| Zerodha | ₹40.00 | ₹82.68 | 0.083% |
| Upstox | ₹40.00 | ₹82.68 | 0.083% |
| Angel One | ₹40.00 | ₹82.68 | 0.083% |
| 5paisa | ₹40.00 | ₹82.68 | 0.083% |
| Groww | ₹40.00 | ₹82.68 | 0.083% |
The last column is how far the price must move in your favour just to cover costs. Make 20 such trades a month and the gap between a ₹10 and a ₹20 cap on both legs is ₹5,664 a year including GST.
