How to Apply for an IPO Using UPI or ASBA
A step-by-step guide to applying for an IPO through your broker's app with a UPI mandate, or through net-banking ASBA.
Before you apply
- Have an active demat and trading account.
- Use a UPI ID linked to a bank account in your own name (UPI is available for applications up to ₹5 lakh).
- Read the RHP — especially risk factors, objects of the issue and financials.
Through a broker app (UPI)
- Open the IPO section and select the issue.
- Choose the category (retail, shareholder, employee if eligible).
- Enter the number of lots and the bid price, or tick cut-off.
- Enter your UPI ID and submit.
- Approve the mandate request in your UPI app before the deadline on the closing day.
Through net banking (ASBA)
- Log in to your bank's net banking.
- Go to the IPO / ASBA section.
- Select the issue, enter demat details, lots and price.
- Submit; the bank blocks the amount.
After applying
- Check the application status and the mandate in your UPI app.
